Patient Care Philosophy

Prioritizing our health/wellbeing as well as learning to cope with/manage chronic illness/disability in a society specifically designed for healthcare to only be accessible for a select group of people is a form of resistance; and I am honored to be able to help provide some of the knowledge and tools to empower patients to be able to do that. I was a patient long before I was ever a provider and my philosophy comes from my experiences - I am a Palestinian, anti-diet/anti-intentional weight loss provider with focuses on HIV care, LGBTQ+ care including gender health, a passion for in-clinic procedures including vasectomies, full spectrum family medicine, and working alongside communities and individuals living on the intersections of multiple oppressions.

Why I Work Here

I work at Carolyn Downs because its history and philosophy aligns with my own. True progress, resistance, and advocacy is not easy nor is it "quiet" and "palatable". Our experiences, including the oppressions we experience and witness, are deeply tied with our health and I wanted to join a community that not only acknowledges that reality but centers it.

Well Being Philosophy

My hobbies change often because the activities that bring me joy, comfort, energy, and escapism can vary! But no matter what it is I'm doing, you can usually find me sharing that experience with my friends and family who are the foundation of my well being.
