Medical Care

Medicaid and Apple Health patients: You are welcome here!

Your health is our #1 priority. We provide the same state-of-the-art care to everyone in our community, regardless of ability to pay, nationality or immigration status, with or without insurance. Since the early 1970s, we’ve seen thousands of patients, sometimes multiple generations of the same families.

Your health care team captain at CDCHC will be your primary care provider (PCP). If you need a specialist or additional support, your PCP will guide you through that process. See the Choose Your Provider page to find a provider for you!

Who We Treat

We welcome patients from every lifestyle, sexual or gender expression, community and nationality. We heartily welcome all traditional and non-traditional patients, including families and children, people from every country and lifestyle, those with or without insurance or Medicaid, just out of incarceration, or currently homeless. We also offer PrEP — an HIV prevention medication – and substance use management. Our staff work hard to ask every patient their preferred name and pronoun. If you prefer you may pre-register online in the privacy of your home. Gender neutral bathrooms are easily available.

We love taking care of you when you’re sick, but we want to put just as much effort into keeping you well. We offer appointments for acute and chronic illnesses, as well as wellness exams, behavioral health, and supportive care.

  • Annual exams from newborn to age 18
  • Immunizations, vaccinations, and immunization counseling
  • School, Head Start, camp and sports physical exams
  • Care for childhood illnesses, including 24-hour urgent consultations
  • Assistance with other services

Safe Haven

Country Doctor, Carolyn Downs and our After Hours Clinic are all safe havens. We will never ask about immigration status or residency. Taking care of you and your health is our only concern.

We speak your language!

We’ve treated patients who speak dozens of languages. If we don’t have an on-site provider or interpreter, we can access one on demand for any service, including counseling and behavioral health. Deaf and hard-of-hearing patients call the Washington State TDD Relay Service at (800) 833-6384.

“Without [Country Doctor], I'd have to wait until some kind of detriment in my health happened before I'd see a doctor.”

Pregnancy, Pre-Natal Care and Family Planning

Pre-natal (before birth) health care can start months before you’re even pregnant. We are with you every step of the way, from pre-conception nutritional planning through delivery to post-natal behavioral health support. Our services for women and new mothers include:

  • Pregnancy testing, counseling and out-of-clinic referrals
  • Delivery with your Country Doctor or Carolyn Downs obstetrician at Swedish Medical Care
  • Nutrition, vitamins, and medical care and counseling before conception
  • Parenting education and support
  • Pre-natal exams and Maternity Support Services (MSS)
  • Birth control services
  • WIC (Women, Infants and Children) supplemental food program
  • Counseling for post-partum depression and other behavioral health services
