Patient Care Philosophy
My goal is to provide comprehensive care to all people, regardless of primary language, income or ethnicity. I am trained in ear (auricular) acupuncture by the National Association Detoxification, which can help with smoking cessation, recovering from substance use, anxiety and depression, and both acute and chronic pain.
Why I Work Here
I believe health care should be a right for all people. I’m honored to work at the Carolyn Downs Family Medical Center, which was founded in that spirit. I most enjoy the one-on-one conversations, hearing people’s stories, and developing relationships over time. I lived in Central America for some years in the 1980s and feel a special connection to Spanish speakers, immigrants, and also former and current residents of the Central District.
Well Being Philosophy
I am committed to supporting people as they learn to better advocate for themselves and their good health. I believe strongly in prevention and enjoy shared decision-making with my patients. I cycle to work every day, and love the fresh air. I walk, do Zumba, Pilates, swim, and even dance salsa when I’m feeling courageous. I love to read, felt, and knit.
