Patient Care Philosophy

My patient care philosophy is rooted in harm reduction and social justice theory. I believe that all patients deserve dignity, choice, and collaborative care. I believe that substance use can be an understandable and adaptive response, especially when people are being oppressed by the systems that we live under - but that over time substance use can do more harm than good. I partner with my patients to support them in working toward their goals, with a focus on harm reduction while bringing curiosity and deep listening to truly understand each person as best I can.

Why I Work Here

I work at Seattle Roots for many reasons, including the deep community history, the social justice focus in our clinics, the opportunity to work with patients who often have difficulty in accessing care, and Seattle Root's commitment to ensure healthcare for all, regardless of ability to pay. Being the first substance use disorder professional at Seattle Roots has been an honor, and I appreciate the opportunities for growth offered here.

Well Being Philosophy

My well being philosophy is that wellness is different for everyone, and health is not a moral obligation. I believe in practicing from an anti-racist, fat-liberationist, neurodivergent affirming, trans and queer centered place, and that informs how I view wellbeing.Â
