Patient Care Philosophy

I enjoy building relationships with my patients and families to promote their wellness and well-being. I value listening, and I strive to help patients gain greater understanding about their health and health choices. Hearing a patient say, “No one ever explained it to me in a way that helped me understand” makes me strive to have many more such moments. It is an absolute joy to see the growth of awareness and understanding and a thrill to know that an important bridge has been built. I enjoy working with all ages, but I especially enjoy working with adolescents as they emerge as individuals and begin to start making choices for themselves.

Why I Work Here

I believe health care is a right. It is a privilege to work as a nurse practitioner caring for members of our community and supporting CDCHC’s mission of compassion, trust and respect for the dignity of our patients, staff, and community. Patients have taught me about the diversity of human experience, the value of the profession I have chosen, and the dignity that patients feel when they are not judged by the medical profession and are offered exceptional care despite being marginalized by society.

Well Being Philosophy

Many issues do not need to be solved immediately. It is more important to take one step towards a goal and succeed than to attempt to change multiple things and fail. I have had cancer twice, and do not consider myself a cancer survivor. I consider myself fortunate! Fortunate that I survived and was able to pursue my dream of medicine, find a home at CDCHC, and, now, honored I get to be a part of peoples’ lives in a very personal way.
