Emily Flynn, MD, MS

I strive to be a listener and a coach for my patients. My hope is to empower people to make healthy changes in their own lives. I love caring for people of all ages, and approach each patient with the same compassion and respect I show my own family. I am grateful to learn about my patients’ lives, hear their stories, and care for whole families. I believe the doctor-patient relationship should be one of mutual respect, open communication, and willingness to ask questions.

I work at Carolyn Downs because I wholeheartedly believe that all people have a right to quality health care as a matter of social justice. Every time I care for a patient through pregnancy, welcome their baby into the world, and then watch them grow as a family, I feel honored to be their family doctor.

Life can be incredibly complex. As primary care providers, it’s imperative that we appreciate the cultural and social context in which our patients live. Wellness allows people to thrive in their communities and work toward their own goals.
